Our Projects

The foundation of all the work we do hinge on using relationships as a lever to experience greater well-being. For many individuals who face profound challenges, especially in depressive conditions, the first and most important relationship that needs to be built/rebuilt is the one with self. Building personal confidence and competence provides an important foundation on which to build healthy relationships with others and the community.

Our first project initiative is an international capacity building project for K-12 students in Jamaica. This initiative focuses on helping young men and women, many of whom grapple with issues of self-worth, to derive satisfaction and esteem through the accomplishment of things that are valued by the society. For many of the students in our target group limited or no access to opportunities is their biggest barrier to progress.

Introducing - Greater Well-Being Learning Centers

On a national level, Jamaican K-12 students are failing to meet the minimum standards in mathematics. As a developing country with limited infrastructure, low technology access, and widespread poverty, remote learning necessitated by COVID-19 has resulted in significantly widening of an already large education gap. This gap is particularly pronounced along socio-economic lines because COVID lockdown rules meant that students without access to technology had no way to continue learning while those with access kept making progress despite the disruption.

In April of 2023, we made a donation of over 70 computers to a few institutions in Jamaica. The units were distributed among multiple institutions with three partner institutions receiving the bulk of the donation (Calabar High School, Kingston YMCA, and YWCA of Jamaica). We also donated to community learning centers, elementary schools, and individual families. For individual donations, priority was given to families who had multiple school aged children and no access to technology (computers).

We want to express sincere gratitude and thanks to our partners from Park National Bank for their donation of computers towards this initiative. Without this generous donation of equipment, phase one of establishing Greater Well-Being Learning Centers would not have been immediately possible.
